Focus
First-generation attorney focused on healthcare payor disputes, reimbursement, and provider compliance. Representing healthcare providers at the state and federal levels, leveraging invaluable operational insight and extensive legal experience in matters involving overpayments, audits, ERISA claim denials, and improper claims processing, with a track record of recovering $10M+ in unpaid or improperly paid claims.
Anelia Shaheed is a Florida Bar-admitted attorney (2013) with over 10 years of experience advising providers on managed care, insurance reimbursement, healthcare regulation and compliance, risk management, and operational challenges affecting provider revenue. She earned her LL.B. from the University of London (2007) and her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University, graduating cum laude (2012). During law school, she was active in Moot Court and presented at the International Caribbean Court of Justice. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the National Health Lawyers Association.
Ms. Shaheed spent 10 years with the Law Office of Julie W. Allison, P.A., progressing from associate to partner and then senior partner before launching her own firm. She also gained extensive operational insight through seven years with a nationally recognized health billing company, where she rose to Chief Operating Officer and later served as General Counsel—experience that informs her practical approach to audits, medical necessity criteria, and reimbursement systems.
Ms. Shaheed has negotiated and resolved disputes with major payors, including Cigna, Humana, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and advises on licensing and accreditation standards, payor requirements for reimbursement, transactions and M&A, contract and finance negotiations, and employment-related issues for healthcare providers. She also has experience in government lobbying and statutory interpretation related to healthcare licensure and treatment services.
